Omnis…

Updated: Sep 29, 2020

What are the omnis? Good question! Let me share a story with you.

When my parents got divorced and my mother moved my brother and I to Houston, Texas, I went to an evangelical/fundamentalist Christian church six days a week and twice on Sundays. My mother used religion to get through the difficulties of her life and subjected me to all of her beliefs. By the time I was thirteen (I had been going to this church since I was seven), I finally got the choice to decide whether or not I wanted to keep going to church.

I decided that I was done with religion forever.

That being said, I like to look back at what nuggets of wisdom that I gleamed from that experience. What I learned from it all is priceless and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Now, let’s get back to the story…

So, I was twelve and had to go into the “big church” with my mother as there was no more “Sunday school” indoctrination for kids once you were a teen. This was rather intimidating as a military colonel was the pastor and you had to not move, keeping totally quiet while listening to his hour long message. I was so bored and doodling on my paper as the colonel talked about Latin from the Bible and was translating it.

Then, the colonel began to say something that I will never forget.

He said that God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. This translates that God is all powerful, everywhere, and all knowing.

You know when there is something that just resonates every cell of your being with truth? Everything in your world lights up? You feel truth running up and down your body?! Well, this happened for me. It’s like I put a “sign post” up for me to remember.

My twelve year old self heard that and thought, “If God is everywhere, then I am God.”

I knew this to be true, but I was taught that God was outside myself, yet here was the colonel telling us that we are God and nobody seemed to get that. I wanted to scream this truth, but I had been taught to not honor my truth and to keep quiet. It wasn’t until years later that I actually began to share this knowing with others.

It’s true.

Ye are Gods.

We are made of the God stuff.

Remember?

We have been taught that God is outside ourselves and to believe. Instead, go within and you will remember. You will step into your power and know. You are omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient!
